Wild Flame The Wild A Rock Star Romance Micalea Smeltzer Books Reviews

  • Overall, it just brakes my heart that I did not love this novel as much as I wanted to. I felt that the over all plot just fell flat. Rush and Kira's problems were severe, but I felt that the way they faced them could have been executed better. Also, I usually like the friends-for-benefits thing, however, I felt that both characters insecurities and past blew too much out of proportion in the novel. It took away from the love story. And, the love story was good, but could have been better. I felt that the steamy scenes in this book was too repetitive. I just started skimming through them just to reach it to the end. I think that there was less showing of how the characters fell in love and more about their attraction for one another.

This is just more of a me than you thing. This book just wasn't my cuppa. But, for NA lovers of a steamy romance that has this trope and lovers of more angst, I highly recommend this book. Just because I didn't like this book as much, doesn't mean that you shouldn't check out more of this author's books. She writes excellent contemporary romance, just this one didn't really make me fall in love.
  • Emotion beyond compare, witty humor, and some real life tough choices make this book hit my top-five favorite 2019 reads. Wild Flame hit me straight in the feels. Rush and Kira are an extraordinary couple, and they have that once-in-a-lifetime kinda love I only hope i'll experience in my own life. A must-must-MUST read for anyone that loved the Willow Creek or Light in the Dark series. Or if you just want a story to rip your heart out and slowly mend it back together. Fan-freaking-tastic story from this author.
  • For the first 40% of this book, I questioned the length. Everything I was reading could have easily been condensed into half the length, and frankly I began to get frustrated. I LOVE this author, and even though she talked about and explained her reasoning behind the length of the book on her FB pages, I just wasn't seeing it. Then I hit the 55-60% mark, and I got it - I got why there was so much information and detail and backstory. Because without all of that, it would have been impossible to FEEL what Rush and Kira went through as they fought the demons that held them back from truly living. As a reader, it made me appreciate the struggles and triumphs all that much more. AS a fan - it made me realize that I knew better than to question anything Ms. Smeltzer does. This was not your typical romance book by any means - it was so much more than that. It was 2 damaged souls fighting for their chance at a rebirth and redemption. And it was beautifully told.
  • Wild Flame was such an intense and good read! From the way it started off, I knew I was in for the ride. Rush and Kira have been through a lot in their lives and made them who they are today. They are so much alike so of course they had an intense chemistry. Their relationship suited them so when the unexpected happened, it was fascinating to read how they would handle it. I felt for these two. Their past was sad and tragic. But I was all in for Rush and Kira. I loved the time they spent together-the banter, the interactions-it was great. Though this was a book about a couple, it was also about Rush and Kira as individuals. I loved that and it really made them endearing to me. I also loved the brotherhood between the Wild Flame guys-it was heartwarming and fun. By the end of Wild Flame, I was in love with Rush. This book had it all-humor, sexy, sweet, angst, and of course the Willow Creek guys. I’m really interested in Cannon and Fox and I’m excited for who’s next. Their stories will be great for sure. #BlushForRush
  • This was such an emotional book about two very broken people. Rush has not accepted nor come to terms with his parents death, while Kira had a tough childhood that has affected her outlook on love. Both make a pack to sleep together, but not be in a relationship or get to know each other. Of course, that plan soon explodes. I love how they get to know learn about each other and come to care about each other, to slowly seeing them fall in love, even though Rush and Kira strongly deny their growing relationship. Of course there are bumps in their happily after and I enjoyed reading their hardships as well as how they overcome the obstacles they face. I don’t want to reveal what happens to each character, but they are huge and life altering. I loved how the supporting characters and the relationship Rush has with his band members. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
  • 4.5 stars

Rush Daniels, drummer for The Wild, and Kira Marsh, a college student working toward a nursing degree, are two damaged characters just getting through life. Both come from tragedies, intense and life changing. Although neither are looking for a relationship, or love, things don’t always work out like they plan. I loved these two characters, both together and apart. As damaged as they were, they needed the other to heal. I will admit this book is a little wordy, but otherwise it’s definitely a must read.
  • This book is unlike anything Micalea has written. It was absolutely amazing and jaw dropping. Rush and Kira are two tormented souls who collide and erupt.
  • This book....what can I say? Kira and Rush were unexpected. Together they were full of fire. The heat was intense. But their individual stories...we're talking a raging inferno of emotion and turmoil. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll be shocked. But you will love it. I certainly did.
