"I really enjoyed reading this book. Mr Fords style of writing made me see and feel the perils and attraction of drug running.
His descriptive style of writing had me feeling the pain and hope of the characters. It also makes me want to visit Texas and Northern Mexico to see the harsh beauty of the area. It was a great read and I look forward to reading more of his works."

The Devil Swing Don Henry Ford Jr 9781589393455 Books Reviews

  • Having read Contrabando by same author last year & just now finishing Devil's Swing this past week, all I can say is "another great read" by a man who lived to tell the tale. It keeps your interest from start to finish. It was one of those "I hope this book keeps going & going"...or you hope that this author keeps putting out adventure stories like this. You can kinda' tell he's not a polished writer...yet. However, polished is not what I'm after in adventure stories, true or fiction. I want the nitty-gritty, real life story telling that this author specializes in writing.

I spent five years flying legal contraband into Mexico, no drugs of course, just TV's, VCR's, Levis etc. Due to Mexico's high import tariff rates, a legal business developed in south Texas for this sort of work. I was lucky & many pilot friends weren't so lucky. I also lived to tell a tale of being ambushed, shot at & almost shot down. From this experience, Mr. Ford's books bring a very special interest for me.
  • Difficult to believe this is fiction. And THAT takes good writing.
  • THE DEVIL'S SWING
    By Don Henry Ford, Jr.
The Devil's Swing is a story that takes you to hell and back amidst the nightmarish world of drug smuggling; John Kendall, Manuel Chavez, and Jesus Otono hastily sell their souls for the love of money, power, and an unending supply of ladies of the night.
The three comrades fall into chaos as they get rich while smuggling drugs and then dive deep into the bottomless pits of despair when they realize the choices they've made are a death wish beyond their control.
The settings in The Devil's Swing are vivid; the characters seem very real and the turbulence throughout the book definitely makes for great entertainment. Don Henry Ford, Jr. brings the world of drug smuggling and the misery that surrounds it to life with clarity and expertise.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Devil's Swing.
